A car really makes getting to and from the hiking trails, restaurants, supermarkets and the many cool attractions soooo much easier. There is a bus service, but it’s not always convenient and finishes quite early. Driving is easy and most people on the island use the small Kei cars as the speed limit is only between 40 and 50 kph. You will need a Japanese or International Drivers License.
